WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGH!

Sports is a funny world, one day you are on top of the heap, the next day you are a heap of $#!+.

FAMOUS BAT AND SHOULDER
Carlos Beltran is a case in point. The last time we heard from Carlos was 2006, standing at the plate with the season on the line and the bat on his shoulder. It is considered the most famous ‘non-swing’ in the majors! He was completely fool by the pitch and the Mets along with Carlos went down for the year.

The New York fans never forgave Carlos, and he carried it through the 2010 season when he was traded to the San Francisco Giants. Last season the Giants thought so highly of him they traded him to the Cardinals, where it seems, in St. Louis he is thriving! Was he a Cardinals fan back in ’06 at Shea Stadium that fate filled night at the plate?

Has anyone except the Cardinals seen his stats lately? He is batting .307, with 12 home runs! The man is a hitting machine. No one ever questioned his defense, although they (the Mets) all lost confidence in his ever playing centerfield like he did prior to 2009.

And I remember him and Cameron trying to decide who the real centerfielder was once way back when they collided and flopped to the ground. Beltran played through the pain.

Today, if he isn’t picking up someone’s nose job bills (see John Neise), he is going 4 for 5 or some crazy thing like that! But what happens to a player of high caliber like Beltran, who is now 35, when he starts to surge like Carlos?

In the next month or so, if Carlos can move his 35 year old legs and steal 2 bases, he will become only the eight player in baseball history with 300 homers and 300 stolen bases!

JOSE REYES

IT'S AS EASY AS .234
If you ever played golf, and hit a great shot, it inspired you to hit another. And what happens? You screw it up. You reach back for that same sense, that same feeling that same swing, and you screw it up!

Jose Reyes is not swinging the bat well. He is hitting .234 as of this writing. If you think that doesn’t play on your psyche, think again if you are the batting champion of the majors. You could throw in the fact that he is playing for a new club, and in a new stadium, one that by the way resembles the distances of the old CitiField measurements.

Is Jose pressing? Is he looking to replicate what he did last season? Can he? It seems everyone is also waiting for his legs to give out. They think chances are he will miss part of the season because of his history of leg problems. His legs are part of his arsenal, and without them, he is not the same either offensively or defensively.

That’s all I wrote, Folks!
