CLEAN RECORDS

MARK MCGUIRE
SAMMY SOSA
The baseball world has been hit hard by the use of steroids, infringing on the integrity of the game by making the records tainted in the last 10 to 15 years. How many records have been broken that wouldn’t have been if the player didn’t take steroids?

With the new rules for drug use being enforced, we need to recognize those players who broke the rules and expunge their whole career from the record books, and disqualify any awards they may have ‘won’.

There are many great young players coming up who could break the real records honestly, and hopefully, for the sake of the game it happens soon. I think that expunging is severe, but they ruined a great sport when it comes to records and the measure of the player based on pure talent.

RANGERS/DEVILS

If there is one thing good for hockey and the NHL, that is: hype. As of this writing, if the Rangers can get by the Capitols, we will suddenly see a metropolitan playoff series between the Devils and the Rangers. The proximity of the Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils was great for the game. But this is the center of the world, New York, and the rivalry is steadily but slowly growing between the states of New Jersey and New York. The game itself Xcould use a shot of adrenalin to boost itself. Too bad Long Island wasn’t in it too. Back in the 80’s, the Rangers and Islanders went at it and it created a lot of interest in the game.

TIGER WOODS

RICKIE FOWLER
TIGER WOODS
For years Tiger Woods was everybody’s favorite golfer, for years he amazed his fans and golf fans in general with his great accuracy, putting and game strategy. Then one Thanksgiving day he rammed his car in a fit to get away from his wife, and the façade started to come down.

Today he is still trying to make a comeback, after all his personal troubles, and revelations, Tiger IS human. But lets talk about the game, his history in the game and his future in what was once his fiefdom.

Tiger Woods is a has-been. Never again will he have the consistency that he once had: there are new kids on the block. Where Tiger stepped in where Player and Snead and Palmer once ruled, Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy now are taking over. The torch will be reluctantly handed off to the next generation.

RORY MCILROY

Rickie Fowler won the prestigious Wells Fargo Championship in a playoff win over Rory McIlroy.

In his 67th try, he won his first PGA Tour, using his youth and strength, making shots never seen before, and not alone, as his competition, Rory McIlroy took him to the very end and then some.

Good bye Tiger, it was fun, but it is time to say goodbye.

That’s all I wrote, Folks!
