I’LL HAVE ANOTHER

Defying 43-1 odds to win the Robert B. Lewis Stakes in February at Santa Anita, I’LL HAVE ANOTHER paid immediate dividends after the purchase two months later at the same track, the horse took down the Santa Anita Derby, then rested for four weeks in preparation for the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, before a crowd of over 165,000!

Paul Reddam, the horse's owner, named I’LL HAVE ANOTHER in honor of his wife's cookies and his response every time she asks him if he'd like another cookie! It's was mint juleps and beer after the race and I’LL HAVE ANOTHER was the words of the day!

I’LL HAVE ANOTHER was the first-ever Derby win for Reddam, trainer Doug O'Neill and jockey Mario Gutierrez. He was also the first horse in the 138-year history of the Derby to win from the 19th post.

The Kentucky Derby is still one of America’s favorite traditional sporting events, one that ranks up there with the World Series or the Super Bowl.

CAPITAL DANGER

If you are the New York Rangers, you have to be worried about now, with the loss of the series lead in that dreaded building the Verizon Center they play hockey in, in D.C. But remember this, the Caps wanted it more, out playing and out hustling the Blue Shirts and taking the series back to New York tied.

There may be anger in the Ranger locker room, but it better be directed against themselves and their shoddy respect for a team that had to win and make the series even at 2 apiece. The loss for the Rangers took away any cushion, even though they still have a home field advantage, any loss now wipes that away.

This is the second series the opponent has been desperate in a must win situation and beat the Rangers. The Rangers need to learn how to overcome desperate teams and beat them back, or they will throw away a great season.

GARDEN BLUES

Garden blues don’t stop with the Rangers, as the Knicks have a bigger headache, in finding a way to harness the Heat. LeBron James is singlehandedly routing the Knicks, and they seem to not be a playoff caliber team, or have a plan on how to win!

This next game will be the epitome of embarrassment as they head to a disaster of losing another playoff series. At this writing the game is scheduled to be played this evening. Another quick exit?

YANKEES DOODLING?

What’s wrong with the Yankees? Where are the bats? Who’s leading and does the Rivera injury impact the team? Even if you ARE the NY Yankees, you have to hit to win, and they are not really hitting, and Tampa Bay doesn’t look like it will lose too many times this season. It’s early yet, but it is 5 games that the Yankees need to make up, against a very good team.

That’s all I wrote, folks!
