ANOTHER GENIUS MILLIONAIRE

Be ready to read about another genius from the ranks of the sports world getting untold millions from an NFL franchise. Oh, it could be a Major League franchise, and don’t forget the NBA or NHL too.

This weeks genius is Morris Claiborne, former LSU cornerback. A likely top five pick, Claiborne scored a breath taking 04 on his Wonderlic intelligence test administered by his future employer, the NFL.

To be considered literate, you have to score a 10, and 50 is the highest score you could get.

I don’t mean to be mean, I question not his football ability, no, what I question is what the hell did he do to get a college diploma. How can anyone without marginal intelligence stay in a college? What was his major by the way?

The shame is the NFL will knock itself silly throwing money at Old Morris to sign a contract; CAN he sign his name, and who will read him the playbook?

If that isn’t enough, fans will pay more to watch inflated egos get paid extra millions to sign million dollar contracts and get a bonus to sign!

Let’s take the San Francisco Giants. They just signed a losing pitcher with a lifetime record of 69-73 to a $127.5 million contract for 6 years! He is Matt Cain, not Sandy Koufax, not even Al Jackson. The richest right-hander to ever sign a contract is Matt Cain! What am I missing here? Will someone tell me how this makes sense?

OK, still not convinced? There is another little city with a tiny weenie TV market in Ohio called Cincinnati, which has a major league team called the Reds. These geniuses just signed a very good ballplayer in Joey Votto, to a guaranteed $251.1 million for the next 12 years! That’s almost $21 million a year!

Is Joey Votto worth $21 million a year for 12 years? Maybe, in the New York Market, but in Cincinnati, the “Queen City” will have to hock her crown.

Then this is the world that has seen a group purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2.15 BILLION! These contracts and offers at extremely inflated prices will eventually drive the fans away and the franchises into the ground.

That’s all I wrote, folks!
