THAT OLD KENTUCKY HOME OF #1’s!

John Calipari has his critics, and he has his national championship. After four trips to the big dance, he has the winner!

The Wildcats topped Kansas 67-59 to reign supreme. The Superdome and Kansas Jayhawks witnessed the determination, heart and soul of the Wildcats, led by Anthony Davis, split defensives, crash, dive and crawl for every available opportunity, then make some of their own.

But a team that has 6 potential NBA draft picks would be national champions almost by default. For the first time since 1998 and the eight time in their history, they are National Champions!

In 2008, Calipari’s Memphis club was denied the NCAA championship by the very same Kansas coach in Bill Self. But avenging was not the goal, winning was and his team was focused. Without a doubt, they were the best team this year.

WHAT’S GOING ON?

Once again the bug hits New York. It seems whenever the Mets get together, someone gets hurt, the latest being Frank Francisco will start the season on the DL. Francisco had water drained from his knee and will have an MRI done as soon as this past Monday.

Torres is heading back to the lineup, Wright seems to be straightened out and Byrdak also heads to the lineup and opening day, then ‘BOOM!” the closer goes down! So what does Terry Collins do, no bench, the relief pitching has been anything but stellar, an issue they needed to address after countless meltdowns and blown leads last season.

That's all I wrote, folks!
