BRANDON JACOBS RUNS FOR DAYLIGHT?

How can you play for an NFL team that wins two Super Bowls in the seven years you play for them and then you jump ship for another team where you are an alternate second string or backup? Brandon Jacobs did, signing on with the San Francisco 49er’s!

29-year-old Jacobs ran for 571 yards and seven touchdowns last season as a backup to Ahmad Bradshaw He is the fourth-leading rusher in the franchise history of the New York Giants with 4,849 yards, but saw his role diminish with the emergence of Bradshaw.

But the question again: why the move from the biggest city in the NFL as a backup to be someone else’s backup? He may be getting more money, and maybe he is making a point, but can’t you look to be a starter somewhere? Selling yourself as #2 anything is not a good career move.

Maybe he figured he would miss Mario Manningham who along with Randy Moss signed on with San Francisco and upgraded the receiver’s corps.

RICK PITINO

Little Napoleon is back! Back to the Final Four that is, as it should be. One of the best college coaches out there, or ever for that matter, Providence, Louisville and Kentucky, each has had the benefit of the Pitino genius that is so legendary. The only other college coach to be considered in his league is Dean Smith of UNC, who ranks at the top because of not only his record, but the fact that all he achieved he did in Chapel Hill.

In 25 years of coaching, Pitino has been to six Final Four’s, and a National NCAA Championship title in 1996.

It seems wherever Rick Pitino goes, the level and quality of its college basketball program grows. So all is well with the world of Final Four’s, little Napoleon is back!

MAGIC AND GUGGENHEIM

The Guggenheim group, led by Magic Johnson has paid an awful lot of money for the Los Angeles Dodgers. First off, awful best describes the price as in too much, and secondly, I don’t think the Yankees are worth that much.

Of course, the idea of selling the parking lots as part of the deal is that Los Angeles is not a city in the true sense, but really a super-suburb without a major city. There are a few countries in this world that combined, don’t have national budgets at $2 billion! What does this do to the costs of any group looking to buy a franchise today? Will the Yankees be at say: $2.75 Billion, and does that include the subway line that runs to it?
