WHAT THE FANS EXPECT
Minnesota Twins Ryan Braun has been the victim of the fan’s disgust with what is wrong with sports. The accusation of taking the juice and winning an MVP title combine for an explosive mixture. Being booed all through spring training, the Twins have kept him at the home field for games and not the road. His spring has not been good, and I wonder if the booing is doing it or the lack of juice he took.
Soon he leaves with the team for Minnesota and the home fans. What will their reaction be? Will he be booed and because of it affects his game? Time will tell, but there is definite backlash to what has so far transpired, the fans are angry, and so am I. Enough with these bums who cheat. Throw them out and banish them from the sport.
THE YU DARVISH WATCH
The Texas Rangers must be having second thoughts about their spending over $150 million on Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who was great in Japan then being posted this past winter. His recent outing was a sign that there should be cause for concern. Throwing 61 pitches over three innings, and issuing four-pitch walks four different times.
Like I stated before here on this blog, it could be a bad move, since he never faced major league hitting before.
ANDY PETITTE IS BACK
The Yankees have a great starting rotation, and added on Petitte out of retirement. The problem I see is that the Yankees take one young pitcher and he doesn’t develop on time, while the old guy who hasn’t pitched since 2010 is given a starting job!
Can Petitte handle the grind anymore of 32 starts, and if so what’s was in his head when he retired that isn’t there now? When you are of retirement age in sports and you do retire, it is usually because you think you are losing your skills. Petitte never really lost his skills and in 2010 had a pretty good record going 11 – 3 and a 3.28 ERA! But how will his presence impact the starters?
My thinking is one of the new acquisitions the Yankees made this winter will not pan out in the person of Michael Pineda, and Petitte will step in very nicely with Nova, Beckett and C.C. Sabatia.
That’s all I wrote, folks!
