WHAT CAN YOU DO?

The shame of it all is the Giants are in the playoffs, but the Jets are still making the headlines!

Tom Coughlin
Tom Coughlin said it best about all the bragging: “Let’s just play the game.”

Rex Ryan
Rex Ryan has some explaining to do. How can he tell the media that he didn’t realize how bad things were until after the big blowup with Holmes in the huddle on Sunday? It is also shocking that Ryan didn’t know that there was no Holmes in the lineup at the end of the game. Is there any communication with his staff on game day? Does he at least know what is being called and that he agrees with it? I know that the offensive coach needs lead way to run the offense, and some autonomy from the head coach, but the head coach has to be aware of it all. That is his job, no?

I can almost understand Ryan naming Holmes a captain of the team before the season. It was a reward for a great year he did have in 2010, and because of his reputation on the Steelers; Ryan felt that Homes would be less likely to cause a problem in the Jets locker room. But the opposite occurred, and Holmes felt empowered to talk about his lack of use. My question becomes, why didn’t Shottyheimer use Holmes more on Sunday? Why didn’t he use him more the past few weeks? Holmes did drop a few too many, but still he is an offensive threat, a weapon as they like to say in the broadcast booth. (An overused term)

How come Ryan didn’t question the offensive coach about the lack of Holmes being passed to and the fact that the Jets were paying him $45 Million to play and no one is throwing to him? I’m wondering what the cost of each catch Holmes made this year comes to based on that $45 Million?

I think that one of the needs that the Jets have is to get a good quarterback coach and work with Sanchez. I don’t think that getting a new quarterback is the solution, since his numbers (Sanchez) have improved every year. Maybe, just maybe better play calling, better coaching, and a better overall offensive game plan is what Sanchez needs. This winter and spring, a good education and review of the past seasons would be a great boost for his confidence and understanding of his job. He has the talent, although he may not be the best, his could be one of the best.

As far as Holmes goes, he should try to fix some fences, and get some help upstairs to figure out how to be a team player. I doubt that he wouldn't voluntarily leave the Jets as long as he's paid, and I don’t know what his contract stipulates, but I don’t see him being traded. What team GM would want him in their locker room after this past week, and all his teammates have said about him?

Right now, the Front Office can say that they want Schottyheimer back next year, because they are hoping he quits on his own. The fans don’t want him back, I don’t want him back and he probably doesn’t feel welcomed here anymore in New York. Hopefully he will gracefully bow out and go away
