CAN TEBOW BE A FACTOR?

Last season, when Tim Tebow stepped in as quarterback for the Denver Broncos, he developed into an overnight sensation just like Jeremy Lin did for the Knicks. It seems like we kept running into overnight sensations and Tebow’s took on a special dimension with his kneel at the sidelines after a success or two. Kids started to ape him, a whole group of boys were suspended from school for doing the Tebow kneel. But that was Denver: he is now in New York.

Based on the strength of 3 pre-season games, there seems to be a lot of questions developing about his ability to really pass a ball, or even get into the end zone.

He is an average passer on a really good day for him, which will not be too many if he starts with the Jets. Their offensive line is practically non-existent, and his receiver corps is dropping ball with alarming frequency.

To bring in a distraction like Tebow is not helping develop Mark Sanchez the way he needs to be developed, and is probably causing Sanchez to try too hard rather than relax and let his talents take over.

As of this writing, no one has seen the wild cat since the Jets haven’t used it. But one set of plays does not make a season, and Tebow is supposedly the key to the formation. But will that be as a running back or as a quarterback?

Give all the snaps to Sanchez and let him develop, and trade off to Tebow for a decent receiver or back up quarterback that can mentor Sanchez.

That’s all I wrote, folks!
