THE BEST 3 AND 4 HITTERS IN BASEBALL

It is called the heart of the lineup, the numbers 3 and 4 hitters on the team. The power guys, the meat of the order. Here are my thought on the three best there are right now.

Detroit Tigers – The addition of Prince Fielder to the heart of this lineup and Miguel Cabrera could very well be the best 3-4 combination in a long time.. Both are hitting over .300, both have power and both do a lot of damage. The most improved lineup this year seems to come out of Detroit, and Fielder is only getting better.

Texas Rangers – Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre, between the two of them will hit between 50 and 70 homers this year. Both are fairly young yet in terms of ability and power. Both are going to hit over .300 and maybe as high as .325 collectively. If the Rangers repeat, it is because of these two guys.

New York Yankees – The weakest of the three groups batting average wise, Mark Teixeira, a prime candidate for a huge rebound in 2012, along with Alex Rodriquez who had better make a comeback with his kind of money, are probably the most dangerous in the pecking order in terms of power. Both have power and history to back up this claim. A-Rod is getting up in years, but can still deliver with a potent bat. Mark has gone back to his old style of hitting and it shows.

You’ll notice there are none in the National League that I would compare to these three sets of 3-4 hitters, and the injuries to the Phillies and their first baseman Ryan Howard really takes the league out of it. Pujols has left it and is still trying to find himself in the new league, while Boston kind of exploded, especially with it’s recent trade with the White Sox.

That’s all I wrote, Folks!
