ARE THEY ALIVE?

Omar Maniacle, the GM of the Mets, has a team that no one will envy. They all are on the injured list, except Reyes and Wright, who by the way are under 30.

What have we here? The walking wounded, the hurting, the old.

How the hell can we win a pennant this way?

Lov ewhat the Jets are trying to do, repeat for New York. The best thing the Giants did for the Jets was win the Superbowl. Kind of like George Steinbrenner going all out after the Mets win a World Series.

What's with the New York Knicks? Can't retain a lead or a leading player. Seems Marbury wants to stay a Knick, and Thomas wants a way to lose him. Can't wait for the Nets to become the New York/Brooklyn transplants again.Seems we been there before. The third time the Nets are a New York team. They were the New York Americans, then the New York Nets, now the Brooklyn Nets??

Why are the Islanders still playing? Do they know their season was over in October? Someone tell them. Maybe the janitor at the Coliseum, after all, he's the only one watching the game, waiting for it to end so he can clean up.

OLD HAT

Time is running out for Willie Randolph. Johann Santana is not the answer. How many games do we expect him to win? 15, 16 maybe 17 games this year? How much better than Glavin will that be? The team is old.

Castillo, Delgado, Alou, Martinez, all considered the heart of the team, all old and on the down side of their careers.

Where is the depth? What happens if Wright or Reyes go down? Who will pick it up and carry the team. Church, Schneider? hardly.

One of the things that New York needs that Philadelphia has is a Howard. Someone who can hit 40 to 55 homers a year.

it seems like the same old same old, all over again.
